Gemini 4 Argon
Google calls Argon a model for deep work on hard, multi-step tasks in coding, finance, law, security and science. Its launch post, written by Koray Kavukcuoglu of Google DeepMind, lists internal uses such as a large Chrome refactor and speedups to the open-source Agent Development Kit. Google also says Argon ranks first on the Vals Index; that is Google's claim, not an independent test.
In the Gemini API the model ID is gemini-4-argon, listed as stable with a 1M-token context window. Our guide on how to use Gemini 4 Argon walks through each place you can reach it, and flags one gap: Google's launch post and the Antigravity post disagree on whether Pro subscribers get Argon in Antigravity.
Genie 4 and other DeepMind news
Google DeepMind announced Genie 4 on October 27. It generates interactive scenes with sound and can be changed with plain-language prompts, but only trusted testers have it. DeepMind says it is built on Gemini models, including Gemini Omni and Gemini 3.8 Flash, and lists object permanence and long-session consistency as unsolved.
The same day Google Research described a "sleep" method that lets language models keep what they learn without forgetting older knowledge. We covered it in our research write-up.
Changes inside the Gemini app
The Gemini app release notes show steady product work beyond the model:
- Skills arrived in chat on September 30. Google says they will replace Gems, and existing Gems will be moved over automatically.
- Customize, launched October 13, puts response settings, connected apps and skills in one menu.
- Desktop apps now cover Windows and macOS, and the Mac app can start Antigravity coding agents.
- Gemini Notebook is the new name for NotebookLM. Our explainer covers what changed with the rename.

Where to follow Gemini news
Google's own channels are the primary source: the Keyword blog at blog.google, the Gemini app release notes and the Gemini API changelog. They are accurate but scattered, and each speaks to one audience.
The ClaudeGPT Si models section pulls these together. It is free to read, every article lists its sources and shows when it was last updated, and the publication is not affiliated with Google. You can follow it by RSS at claudegpt.si/feed.xml.
If you only build on the API, Google's changelog alone may be enough, since it lists every model ID and deprecation the day it ships.
