Key takeaways

  • Gemini 4 Argon is not on the free Gemini app plan or the free Gemini API tier, as of October 27, 2026.
  • In the Gemini app it comes with Google AI Pro ($19.99 a month) and Ultra, rolling out since October 13, 2026.
  • The API costs $2 per million input tokens and $10 per million output tokens through November 30, then $4 and $20.

Gemini 4 Argon is not free. Google's own pages, read on October 27, 2026, put it behind a paid Google AI Pro or Ultra subscription in the Gemini app, and the Gemini API pricing page says it is not available on the free tier. In the API it costs $2 per million input tokens and $10 per million output tokens until November 30, 2026.

Google launched the model on October 13, 2026, according to its launch post. The free Gemini app plan does not list it. If you only want to try it, the free route does not exist yet, apart from a narrow program for scientists.

Gemini 4 Argon price in the API

The API price has two stages. Prices are per million tokens, in US dollars, as of October 27, 2026.

Through November 30, 2026 From December 1, 2026
Input $2.00 $4.00
Output (including thinking tokens) $10.00 $20.00

Google calls the first stage an introductory price. Cached input tokens cost 95% less, according to the launch post. The post also says the API has a 1 million token limit, which it describes as unified for input and output. Rate limits are not stated on the pages we read.

AI Studio, Google's developer console, has a free tier with limited model access. The pricing page says Argon is not on it. Argon requires a paid API tier.

Which Gemini app plans include Argon

The Google AI plans page lists US prices as of October 27, 2026.

Plan Price Gemini 4 Argon
Free $0 a month Not listed
Google AI Plus $4.99 a month Unclear
Google AI Pro $19.99 a month Yes
Google AI Ultra From $99.99 a month, with a $199.99 tier Yes, highest access

Google's Gemini release notes for October 13 say Argon began rolling out globally that day to Pro and Ultra subscribers in the Gemini app. The launch post adds that Pro and Ultra subscribers also get it in AI Mode in Search, and that Google Antigravity, its coding tool, is for Ultra subscribers. The subscriptions page lists Argon under Pro for Antigravity and AI Studio access.

Plus is the unclear case. The plan carries an "Includes Gemini 4 Argon" label, but the page's feature list for Plus names Gemini 3.6 Flash, and Google's own text says Argon is for Pro and Ultra. Check the plan screen in your account before you pay for Plus because of Argon.

Usage limits in the app

Google does not publish exact numbers. The subscriptions page says limits are compute-based and depend on prompt complexity, features used and chat length. They refresh every 5 hours until a weekly cap is reached, and you can buy AI credits to extend them. Pro gives four times the Gemini usage of a non-AI plan, per Google. For what the free plan does include, see our guide on whether Gemini is free.

The one free program

Google says 10,000 scientists can apply for Antigravity's highest usage tier free for six months. Access is rolling and subject to eligibility, capacity and selection. Cybersecurity defenders get access through Google's Fairwind Program, also on a rolling basis.

What Google has not published

  • Any date for Argon in the free Gemini app, or a statement that it will come.
  • Exact usage limits for any plan.
  • Whether Google AI Plus really includes Argon.
  • Rate limits for the API.

Google's earlier post, dated September 30, said only that Argon was "rolling out soon" to trusted defenders first. The October 13 post supersedes it. The date to watch is December 1, when the API price doubles.
