You can use Gemini 4 Argon today in the Gemini app, AI Mode in Search, Google Antigravity, Google AI Studio and the Gemini API, but which door opens depends on your plan. Google announced Gemini 4 Argon on October 13, 2026. This guide covers how to get to it in each place, and what Google's pages do not say.

Facts below are as of October 27, 2026. Plans and prices change, so check the linked pages before you rely on them.

Who can use Gemini 4 Argon

Where Who Google says gets it
Gemini app Google AI Pro and Ultra subscribers
AI Mode in Search Google AI Ultra and Pro subscribers
Google Antigravity Ultra subscribers, per the launch post. Antigravity's own post says Pro and Ultra subscribers, in the desktop app and CLI, plus eligible Gemini Enterprise subscriptions
Google AI Studio Paid-tier Gemini API users. Ultra subscribers can also try it there
Gemini API Developers and enterprises. The launch post says it is available globally

Google's launch post and Antigravity's post differ on whether Pro subscribers get Argon in Antigravity. If you are on Pro, open Antigravity and check. We could not confirm it from the app.

The Gemini app release notes for October 13 say Argon is rolling out globally for Pro and Ultra subscribers. They do not mention free users, so assume free accounts do not have it. For plans and prices, see our guide on whether Gemini is free.

How to use Gemini 4 Argon in the Gemini app

  1. Subscribe to Google AI Pro or Ultra. Plans are listed on Google's AI plans page.
  2. Open the Gemini app and sign in with the account that holds the plan.
  3. Look for Gemini 4 Argon in the app's model options.

We could not verify step 3. Neither the release notes nor the pages we could read describe the model picker or say whether Argon is the default. The rollout is gradual, so it may not show up on your account on day one. Google's Gemini help center lists an article called "About Gemini models" and one on "Gemini Apps limits & feature availability", which are the places to check for the picker and for usage limits. Neither page states limits for Argon.

Google says Pro and Ultra subscribers get Argon in AI Mode. The launch post links to aimode.google. Sign in with your subscribed account and open it. We could not find a documented switch for choosing the model there, so we cannot tell you where to select it.

How to use it in Google Antigravity

Antigravity is Google's agent-first development platform.

  1. Update Antigravity to the latest version. Google's Antigravity post recommends trying Argon on your most complex workflows.
  2. If you do not have it, download it from antigravity.google.

The post does not explain how to pick Argon in the interface, so we cannot give those steps. Google also says it is offering 10,000 scientists the highest Antigravity usage tier free for six months, subject to eligibility, capacity and selection. Applications are open through the form linked from the launch post.

How to use it in Google AI Studio

Paid-tier Gemini API users can build with Argon in AI Studio, and Ultra subscribers can try it there too. Google has also published an AI Studio guide on building 3D games and worlds with Gemini 4 Argon. That page would not load for us, so we cannot describe its steps. Open it directly.

How to call Gemini 4 Argon through the API

The model ID is gemini-4-argon. The Gemini API models page lists it as a new stable model under Gemini 4, with a unified 1M-token context window and long decodes up to 1M tokens.

We found no Argon-specific code sample in the Gemini API docs. The quickstart's samples use a different model, gemini-3.8-flash. Here is the documented Python quickstart, exactly as published:

from google import genai

client = genai.Client()

interaction = client.interactions.create(
    model="gemini-3.8-flash",
    input="Explain how AI works in a few words"
)
print(interaction.output_text)

Install the SDK first with pip install -U google-genai, and set your key with export GEMINI_API_KEY="YOUR_API_KEY". The JavaScript version uses npm install @google/genai. The curl version posts to https://generativelanguage.googleapis.com/v1beta/interactions with the x-goog-api-key header.

To target Argon, replace the model string with gemini-4-argon. That substitution is ours. It follows from the model ID on the models page, but we did not run it, because we had no API key in this run. Enterprise customers can also open Argon in the Gemini platform in Google Cloud.

What Gemini 4 Argon costs in the API

Google lists an introductory price of $2 per million input tokens and $10 per million output tokens, with cached input tokens 95% off. The introductory period ends November 30, 2026. After that, the public-access model costs $4 per million input tokens and $20 per million output tokens. See Google's pricing docs for the current numbers.

What we could not verify

  • Where Argon appears in the Gemini app's model picker, and whether it is the default.
  • How to select Argon in AI Mode and in Antigravity.
  • Whether Pro subscribers get Argon in Antigravity, given the two Google pages differ.
  • Usage limits in the Gemini app and rate limits in the API.
  • The contents of the AI Studio 3D games guide.
  • That the quickstart code runs unchanged with gemini-4-argon.

Next, check the Gemini app release notes for the picker and limits, and the AI Studio developer guide Google points to from its developer post.
