Is Le Chat free?

The Free plan costs nothing. Mistral describes it as a way to test the product on web and mobile. What you get on it, from the pricing page:

Mistral does not publish numeric caps for the Free plan. The page says only "limited." Its other plans are described as multiples of the free allowance, so the free limit is the baseline for everything else.

The Free plan is also the one to use if you want to check the product before paying. Mistral's product page says the free plan covers quick answers and simple tasks, including web search. It says agents, long-horizon tasks and all-day coding need Pro.

Mistral's product page now reads "Mistral Vibe (formerly Le Chat)." Its FAQ says: "Le Chat is now Vibe. All your conversations, settings, and plans carry over." The "Try it free" button on that page goes to chat.mistral.ai.

People still search for Le Chat, so that is the name used here. If you have an older Le Chat account, Mistral says your plan carries over, so you do not need to sign up again.

Does the free plan train on your data?

The pricing page has a "Model training" row marked "Opt-out," but it does not say which plans the row applies to, and the page gives no further detail. We could not confirm from the pricing page alone whether Free chats are used for training by default. Read Mistral's privacy terms and the account settings before putting sensitive material into any plan.
