Anthropic launched Personal Finance in Claude on November 5, a feature that connects to your bank and credit card accounts through Plaid and answers questions about your spending. It starts as a beta this week for Pro, Max and Ultra subscribers in the US, according to Anthropic.
The access is read-only. Claude can look at your accounts, but it can't move, manage or invest money.
What Claude can see
You choose which accounts to connect. For each one, Claude sees the bank name, the account name and type, the last four digits of the account number, balances and credit limits, and up to two years of transactions. You sign in to your bank through Plaid, which handles the read-only approval, so Claude never sees your bank password.
What you can ask it
Anthropic says Claude totals your spending across accounts and sorts it into categories such as rent and utilities or food and drink. It can point out things that look wrong, like duplicate charges, unexpected fees and bills that keep rising. You can also ask broader questions, such as whether you spend more than you earn, or have it explain a term like APR and work out how much interest you paid over the past year.
TechCrunch, which covered the launch, reports the same details. Personal Finance appears in Claude's sidebar: open it, connect an account and ask a question.
Privacy and limits
Conversations inside the Personal Finance hub are not used to train Anthropic's models. Chats outside the hub follow your normal privacy settings. You can unlink an account at any time, and Claude then can no longer see its data.
Anthropic says the feature has no ads or sponsored recommendations, and it doesn't offer its own credit cards, loans or savings accounts. It is not designed to give investment advice, and Anthropic warns that Claude can make mistakes, so check important figures with your bank.
What we don't know yet
Anthropic's post lists no separate price and no usage caps for the feature, and it doesn't say when it will reach countries outside the US. OpenAI started a similar Plaid-powered personal finance preview in ChatGPT in May 2026, so Anthropic is following rather than leading here. For plan prices, see our guide to the Claude Max plan.
