Amazon Nova pricing depends on the model, and none of the Nova pages I read list a free tier. As of October 27, 2026, Amazon Bedrock pricing charges per million tokens, from $0.035 for input on Nova Micro to $2.50 for input on Nova Premier. The cheapest current model, Nova 2 Lite, costs $0.30 in and $2.50 out on the global standard tier.
Nova is Amazon's own family of models, and you reach it through Bedrock, AWS's managed service for foundation models. The price you pay is mostly a choice of model, tier and region.
How much Amazon Nova costs per million tokens
These are the standard on-demand prices on the Bedrock pricing page as of October 27, 2026, in US East (N. Virginia). The page loads its numbers with a script, so I read them from the price data the page itself uses. Check the page for your region before you budget.
| Model | Input per 1M tokens | Output per 1M tokens |
|---|---|---|
| Nova Micro (text only) | $0.035 | $0.14 |
| Nova Lite | $0.06 | $0.24 |
| Nova Pro | $0.80 | $3.20 |
| Nova Premier | $2.50 | $12.50 |
| Nova 2 Lite | $0.33 | $2.75 |
Those rows are from the "Geo cross-region and in-region" table. The page lists a separate "global cross-region inference" table, where Nova 2 Lite costs $0.30 input and $2.50 output. Nova 2 Pro and Nova 2 Omni are labeled Preview on the page. In the global standard table, Nova 2 Pro costs $1.25 input and $10 output, and Nova 2 Omni costs $0.30 for text input and $2.50 for text output. Nova 2 Omni also lists $40 per million output tokens for images.
Nova 2 models take up to 1 million tokens of context and write up to 65,536 tokens per response, according to the Nova 2 user guide.
Is Amazon Nova free
No free tier for Nova appears on the Nova pricing page or the Bedrock pricing page as of October 27, 2026. Both pages only link to the general AWS Free Tier page, and neither says Nova is covered by it. Assume you pay from the first token unless the AWS Free Tier page tells you otherwise for your account.
Ways to pay less for Nova
The Bedrock page lists several levers, all as of October 27, 2026:
- Flex tier. Half the standard price on the page's global table: Nova 2 Lite is $0.15 input and $1.25 output. The page says it is a discount for work that can wait.
- Batch. Nova 2 Lite is also $0.15 and $1.25 in the global batch table. In the geo table, Nova Micro is $0.0175 and $0.07, and Nova Lite is $0.03 and $0.12.
- Prompt caching. The page says cache reads cost 75% less than the normal input price. Nova Lite cache reads are $0.015 per million tokens.
- Priority tier. The reverse: a 75% premium over standard for faster compute. Nova 2 Lite is $0.525 input and $4.375 output on the global table.
Fine-tuning and custom models cost extra. Running a custom Nova model on demand costs the same as the base model, per the page, and storing one costs $1.95 a month.
Other Nova prices
- Nova Canvas, the image model, costs $0.04 per 1024 x 1024 image at standard quality and $0.06 at premium. Images up to 2048 x 2048 cost $0.06 and $0.08.
- Nova Act, for browser agents, costs $4.75 per agent hour, billed on elapsed time while the agent works.
- Nova Forge is an annual subscription, and the price is not on the pages.
- Provisioned throughput for Nova 2 Lite, Micro, Lite and Pro is $60.50 per hour per model unit with no commitment, $55 with a one-month commitment and $30.25 with six months.
Nova Sonic, the speech model, has no per-token numbers on the Nova pricing page, which says text token pricing applies only to some uses such as transcription and tool calls.
Amazon Nova vs Claude on Bedrock
Bedrock also sells Anthropic's Claude models. These are standard global cross-region prices on the same page as of October 27, 2026:
| Model | Input per 1M tokens | Output per 1M tokens |
|---|---|---|
| Nova 2 Lite | $0.30 | $2.50 |
| Nova Pro (geo) | $0.80 | $3.20 |
| Claude Haiku 5.5 | $0.10 | $0.50 |
| Claude Sonnet 5.5 | $2 | $10 |
| Claude Opus 5.5 | $4 | $20 |
On price alone, Claude Haiku 5.5 is cheaper than Nova 2 Lite on the global tier, and Nova Pro sits well below Sonnet 5.5. The pages say nothing about quality. Price per token does not tell you which model finishes your task in fewer tokens, so run your own prompts on two or three models before you choose.
What to check before you budget
Pick the region first, because geo and in-region prices run 10% above the global ones on the Nova 2 Lite rows. Then pick the tier. If your jobs can wait, batch or flex halves the bill. AWS can change these prices, so read the pricing page again on the day you sign off.
