Windsurf vs Cursor is no longer a comparison of two independent editors under those names. As of November 4, 2026, windsurf.com redirects to devin.ai/pricing, where the editor is sold as Devin Desktop, and Cursor sells its own plans from $8 to $200 a month. This comparison is based on the products' docs and published pricing, not on hands-on testing.
If you searched for Windsurf, the practical question is Cursor against Devin Desktop. Both are AI coding editors with agents, and their prices overlap at the top and diverge in the middle.
Is Windsurf still a product?
The Windsurf web address and docs address now redirect. On November 4, 2026, windsurf.com/pricing returned a permanent redirect to devin.ai/pricing, and docs.windsurf.com sent us to the Devin Desktop usage docs. Neither page uses the name Windsurf. The pricing page lists Free, Pro, Max, Teams and Enterprise plans, with Devin Desktop and Devin Cloud (cloud agents) as the products.
We found no announcement of the change on a page we could open, so we don't give a date for it here. Read the Windsurf name below as the older name for the editor now called Devin Desktop.
Windsurf vs Cursor: plans and prices
Prices are monthly and exclude tax. Cursor's figures come from its pricing page and pricing docs, and Devin Desktop's from the Devin pricing page. All were read on November 4, 2026.
| Cursor | Devin Desktop (formerly Windsurf) | |
|---|---|---|
| Free | $0, limited usage, no third-party models | $0, light quota, limited models, unlimited Tab completions and inline edits |
| Entry paid | Plus, $8 ($80 a year) | Pro, $20 |
| Mid tier | Premium, $30 ($300 a year), 4x Plus usage | None listed |
| High tiers | Super, $100 ($1,000 a year), 15x Plus. Ultra, $200 ($2,000 a year), 50x Plus | Max, $200, "significantly higher" quotas |
| Teams | $30, $100 or $200 per seat, matching the seat's tier | $80 for the team plus $40 per full developer seat, up to 200 users |
| Enterprise | Custom | Custom |
The two pages describe usage differently. Cursor gives multiples of the Plus allowance. Devin gives no numbers and calls its quotas light, increased or significantly higher.
How usage and models work
Cursor's paid plans share one weekly usage pool across the editor's agent, the CLI, Cloud Agents, Grok Bot and the Grok apps. Different models draw from the pool at different rates. The pool covers Cursor's own models, listed in the docs as Grok 4.7, Grok 4.6, Grok 4.5 and Composer 2.5. Third-party models on Premium and above are billed at API list price from prepaid credit. Plus is limited to Cursor's own models. Cursor says requests are never downgraded in quality or speed when the pool runs out. You wait for the reset, pay from credit, or upgrade.
Devin Desktop says usage refreshes on a daily and weekly basis. Pro includes frontier models from OpenAI, Claude, Gemini and SpaceXAI, plus open-source models, and its SWE-2 model is free to use. Extra usage can be bought at API pricing. Pro allows up to 10 concurrent sessions, while Max and Teams list unlimited.
Devin's docs also describe a credit model for enterprise customers on legacy plans, with add-on credits at $120 per 1,000 pooled credits. That applies to the older enterprise model, not to the self-serve prices above.
Where they differ
Cursor's cheapest paid plan costs less than half of Devin Desktop's Pro, but it limits you to Cursor's own models. The cheapest way into Claude, Gemini or OpenAI models on Cursor is Premium at $30, plus per-token charges. On Devin Desktop, Pro at $20 lists those frontier models without a separate per-token bill, within its quota.
Cursor's pricing page bundles its plans with Grok chat features, so the plan lists mix coding and chat. Premium adds Bugbot code reviews and Cloud Agents, for example. Devin's page sells Devin Cloud agents on Pro and above.
On the high end the price is the same, $200. What you get depends on the quota, and only Cursor publishes a multiple (50x Plus on Ultra).
What we could not compare
We did not test either editor, and we found no benchmark in the docs we read that compares them. Devin's page gives no quota numbers, so a cost per task can't be worked out from published data. Cursor's docs say its older Pro, Pro+ and Ultra plans still work for existing customers, and Devin's docs say it introduced new usage-based plans in March 2026. Check both pricing pages before you pay.
