Suno and Udio are the two best-known AI music generators, and in November 2026 they are no longer close to the same product. Suno sells downloads and commercial rights: Pro is $10 a month ($96 a year) with 2,500 credits and 20 downloads, and Premier is $30 a month ($288 a year) with 10,000 credits and 60 downloads. Udio's help center says downloading of audio, video and stems has been disabled since its partnership with Universal Music Group on October 29, 2025, so a Suno vs Udio choice comes down to whether you need to take your songs out of the app.
This comparison rests on the two companies' own pricing and help pages, read on November 7, 2026. It is not a hands-on test, and we did not compare how the songs sound.

Suno plans and limits
Suno's pricing page lists three plans.
- Free: $0, 50 credits a day, four generations at a time in a shared queue, and the v6-mini model. Songs are for personal, non-commercial use and cannot be monetized, according to Suno's free plan rights article.
- Pro: $10 list, shown as $8 a month on the annual plan, billed $96 a year. It gives 2,500 credits a month, 20 downloads a month, the v6 and v6-wild models, ten generations at a time with a priority queue, two stem separation types, and the option to record or upload your own voice and create custom models.
- Premier: $30 list, shown as $24 a month, billed $288 a year. It gives 10,000 credits a month, 60 downloads a month, three stem separation types, advanced editing, personas, and Suno Studio, which the page describes as including MIDI, effects, automation and plugins.
Suno says credits that come with a subscription do not carry over from month to month. Credits you buy as a top-up do not expire but need an active subscription to use. Paid plans renew automatically and can be cancelled at any time.
How downloads and commercial rights work on Suno
Downloads are limited by their own credit pool. Suno's help article on downloads, edited September 3, 2026, says Pro gets 20 download credits a month and Premier gets 60, and that workflows inside Suno Studio are not subject to the limits. Monthly download credits do not roll over, while individually purchased downloads and download packs do. Annual subscribers get their downloads topped up monthly.
Free users who joined before September 3, 2026 get up to 7 trial downloads. Free users who joined on or after that date may occasionally receive trial downloads. Trial downloads are not eligible for commercial use.
On commercial rights, Suno's paid subscription article says songs downloaded while subscribed get commercial use rights. That covers monetizing them, distributing them to streaming platforms, using them in film, TV or games, and selling them. Suno adds that commercial rights do not guarantee copyright protection, which your country's copyright office decides.
The pages we read do not say which file formats downloads come in, so we do not list them here.
Udio plans and limits
Udio's help center describes two paid tiers and a free tier.
- Free: 10 credits a day and an extra 100 a month. Free accounts can create only three 130-second songs a day, whatever their credit balance.
- Standard: $10 a month, per Udio's subscription change article. Its trial article gives $96 plus tax in the US as an example annual price. The monthly limit is 2,400 credits.
- Pro: $30 a month, with a monthly limit of 6,000 credits.
A credit buys one song. Each click of Create, Extend, Remix, Inpaint or Edit makes two songs. A pair of 32-second songs costs two credits, and a pair of 130-second songs costs four. Trimming is free. Subscription credits do not roll over, and if a subscription ends the account falls back to free limits. Credits bought a la carte never expire.
There is also a one-time trial of Standard, up to 7 days, with no extra credits and the free tier's three-per-day cap on 2-minute songs. It does include Voice Control, music and lyrics editing, audio-guided generation, and up to six songs at once. If you do not cancel, Udio charges the full annual price unless you switched to monthly first.
What Udio's own site says about its status now
Udio's help article on the Universal Music Group partnership, dated February 17, 2026, says that on October 29, 2025 Udio entered a partnership with Universal Music Group. As part of it, every subscriber got a one-time grant of 1,000 non-expiring credits, the Standard monthly limit rose from 1,200 to 2,400, the Pro limit rose from 4,800 to 6,000, and Pro users can create 5 sets of songs (10 songs) at once, up from 4. It then states: "downloading of audio, video, and stems has been disabled."
A second article, on the Warner Music Group partnership, dated November 19, 2025, says the Warner deal also settles the companies' copyright litigation and that Udio's service is still governed by a transition terms of service. During the transition, it says, users keep the v1, v1.5 and v1.5 Allegro models and the core tools such as extend, remix and Styles, and can still share songs through udio.com links. It says the labels did not buy Udio. It describes the next platform as one for remixes, covers and new songs using the voices and styles of artists who opt in.
We did not find a Udio page that says downloads have come back. We also could not open the plan table on the pricing page, so any plan change after the help articles' dates would not show up here. Treat Udio as a place to create and share by link until its own pages say otherwise.
Which one to pick
Pick Suno if you need files. It is the one of the two whose pages describe downloads, stems, uploads up to 30 minutes and commercial rights, and it states what each plan gets. Premier adds Suno Studio for editing work.
Pick Udio only if you want to make and share songs inside its app and link to them, with credit limits that are comparable to Suno's on the same $10 and $30 price points. If you plan to publish, sell or put songs in a video, Udio's own help center currently gives you no way to download them.
