Perplexity Computer is an AI agent that does tasks for you instead of only answering questions: it researches, builds documents and apps, works in your email and other connected apps, and runs jobs on a schedule. Perplexity launched it on February 25, 2026 for Max subscribers, and it is now available on Pro and Max plans, with a limited number of free turns on some free accounts. Max costs $200 a month. Pro costs $20 a month and includes a weekly Computer allowance. Prices and limits are as of November 6, 2026.

What Perplexity Computer is

Perplexity calls it a general-purpose digital worker that uses the same interfaces a person does. You describe an outcome in plain language. Computer splits it into tasks, starts sub-agents (smaller agents that each handle one piece), and keeps working in the background. Perplexity says a workflow can run for hours or even months.

According to the Help Center, it can:

  • research with cited sources and run several web searches in parallel
  • create reports, slides, websites and apps
  • work with connected apps, including Gmail, Outlook, GitHub, Linear, Slack, Notion, Snowflake, Databricks and Salesforce
  • keep memory across sessions and platforms
  • run recurring or condition-based tasks, such as a morning briefing or watching a flight status

At launch, Perplexity said it used Opus 4.6 as the core reasoning model and sent subtasks to other models, such as Gemini for deep research and Grok for lightweight tasks. The company noted that the lineup can change, and you can pick models for specific subtasks.

Who gets it

Computer launched on February 25, 2026 for Max subscribers, with Enterprise Max to follow. A March 2026 changelog entry opened it to all Pro subscribers on web and iOS. Perplexity's Computer page now lists Pro and Max subscribers on desktop, mobile, Slack and Microsoft 365. Enterprise admins can switch Computer off for their organization.

Some free accounts get a limited number of free turns. A turn is one message you send or one reply. The allowance is one-time, does not reset, and does not use credits. Free turns allow only one agent at a time.

Computer also runs outside the browser:

  • Personal Computer for Windows, announced July 28, 2026, works across local files, Microsoft 365 and the web for Pro, Max and Enterprise subscribers on Windows 10 or 11. A Mac version came earlier, in April.
  • Local mode on Mac, announced October 20, 2026, runs the model, planning and execution on an Apple silicon Mac. Perplexity recommends 36 GB of memory or more and lists Qwen 3.6 and PPLX Pro as the launch models. It is open to Pro, Max and Enterprise subscribers.

What Perplexity Computer costs

Computer has no price of its own. It comes with a subscription, and heavy use is metered in credits.

Plan Price Computer usage
Free $0 A limited number of one-time free turns on some accounts
Pro $20 a month or $200 a year No monthly credits. Weekly Computer usage is included, plus a one-time 4,000-credit bonus that expires in about 30 days
Max $200 a month or $2,000 a year (annual billing on the web app only) 10,000 credits a month, plus a one-time 35,000-credit bonus that expires in about 30 days
Enterprise Pro Custom 500 credits a month per the Help Center
Enterprise Max Custom 15,000 credits a month per the Help Center

Prices come from Perplexity's Max and hub pages. Credit amounts come from the Help Center article on how credits work.

How credits work

  • 100 credits equal $1. Extra credits can be bought in one-time purchases, and auto-refill is off by default.
  • Ordinary Ask searches are unlimited and use no credits. Only Computer tasks (and Comet Assistant in Work mode) spend them.
  • Credits are spent in this order: Pro weekly usage, bonus credits, monthly plan credits, then purchased credits.
  • Monthly credits reset with your billing cycle and do not roll over. Purchased credits expire after a year without using Computer.
  • Max accounts have a monthly spending cap that defaults to $200 and can be raised to $5,000.
  • If credits run out, active tasks pause and resume when credits are available.

Pro weekly usage

Pro's weekly allowance is separate from credits. It resets each week, starting from your first use rather than your billing date, and unused amounts do not carry over. It is not available on Max or Enterprise plans. Without credits, Computer on Pro runs on the Light effort setting only. Perplexity says the rollout is gradual, so look for "Included in Pro" on your usage page. The help center does not say how large the weekly allowance is.

How to start

On the Home page, select the Computer icon, then Start a task. To connect apps, open Plugins (or Customize, then Connectors) and choose Connect or Install. Once a task starts, you cannot switch that session back to Search.

Teammates build on Computer

Perplexity's Teammates page says Teammates build on Computer to own ongoing work such as running a campaign or tracking metrics. They are available to Max subscribers on the web. For details, see our separate report on Teammates.

What Perplexity has not said

Perplexity has not published how many credits a typical task costs, since usage varies with complexity. It has not stated the size of Pro's weekly allowance. Its own pages disagree on small points, such as the Pro credit wording in some translations of the help article, so check your account's usage page for what you actually have. For the other Perplexity plans, see our Pro price and plans guide.
