Kilo Pass is Kilo Code's optional monthly credit subscription: you pay a fixed amount, that payment becomes paid credits on your Kilo balance one for one, and once those are used Kilo adds bonus credits for the month. It starts at $19 a month, and if you want to see your Pass counters next to your other AI tools, UsageAtlas, a free open-source desktop app, can show them.

How Kilo Pass works
Kilo Code is free, open-source software. What costs money is the model behind it. When you use a paid model through Kilo Gateway, Kilo deducts the cost from a credit balance at the provider's own rate, with no markup.
You can fill that balance three ways: a one-time purchase, automatic top-up, or Kilo Pass. Kilo's docs call the Pass the most cost-effective of the three, because it adds bonus credits on top of what you pay. The size of that bonus depends on the plan and on how long you keep subscribing; the Pass page explains the current rules.
Two details people miss:
- Your paid Pass credits are spent first, and bonus credits arrive only after that. Unused bonus credits do not carry over past the month.
- You can still buy extra credits mid-month if the Pass runs short.
Who Kilo Pass suits
It fits developers who use Kilo most days and want a predictable monthly spend. If you mainly use free models, local models through Ollama or LM Studio, or your own provider keys, you may not need it at all, since those do not draw on Kilo credits.
Teams can buy Kilo Pass at the organization level. The credits go into the team's shared pool rather than to individuals, and personal passes stay separate.
How to check your Kilo Pass usage
- Kilo CLI. The sidebar footer shows your balance and a Kilo Pass usage block.
- Web. The Kilo dashboard and Usage page at app.kilo.ai.
- UsageAtlas. Connect Kilo Code under Settings, then Sources, with an API key. The Limits page shows Pass base, bonus, use and renewal when Kilo returns them, plus active credit blocks and the remaining balance.
One caution from the UsageAtlas Kilo guide: Pass counters and credit blocks can describe the same money, so do not add them together.
Also make sure you are looking at the right account. Kilo keeps personal and organization credits apart, so a personal Pass will not show up in a team environment.
Is it worth it?
If you would use at least the Starter amount in Kilo credits each month anyway, the Pass adds bonus credits for the same money. If your use is light or irregular, pay-as-you-go top-ups are simpler.
Either way, UsageAtlas is a simple way to keep the balance in view when Kilo is one of several coding tools. It is free, MIT-licensed, runs on Windows, macOS and Linux, and does not read your prompts.
