Dreambeans is a Google Labs app that uses AI to turn what is in your Google apps into a short set of illustrated stories each day. So what is Dreambeans? Google describes it as an experimental app that connects you with what matters "without the endless scroll." It launched on June 3, 2026, and since September 10 any US account holder aged 18 or older can use it on Android and iOS.

The idea is a feed with an end. Most feeds never run out. Dreambeans builds a finite collection overnight, so you read it and stop. Whether the stories are any good depends on what you let it read.

What Dreambeans does

Each story is called a dreambean. Google's September post says each one combines a personalized topic, such as a place to explore, a show to watch or a reminder of an upcoming event, with information distilled from the Google apps you connect. Every story gets its own illustration.

You can open a story to read more, bookmark it, share it or send feedback. The Dreambeans site says some stories carry actions such as "See Ticket" or "Watch Trailer."

Google's launch post gives an example. A Gmail order confirmation for puppy treats led to training tips, and a Calendar reminder led to dog-friendly restaurant suggestions.

How it works

Google says the app is built on Personal Intelligence and Nano Banana 2. Personal Intelligence is Google's name for AI that uses your own account data. Nano Banana 2 is the image model that draws the artwork. Google's pages don't explain either in more detail.

The Dreambeans site says the app works overnight, which is where the name comes from, and brews a new set each morning. After you connect your apps, the first stories can take up to a day.

If you connect Google Photos, Dreambeans can show you and your loved ones in the artwork. The site says that needs face grouping turned on in Photos.

Which of your data it reads

You choose the sources, and you must connect at least one. The Dreambeans site lists Gemini, Gmail, Calendar, Google Photos, YouTube and Search. Google says it works best with all of them on. You can change the choices at any time.

Google's privacy claims, as stated on its pages:

  • Choices you make in Dreambeans don't change your Personal Intelligence settings in Gemini Apps or AI Mode.
  • You can remove specific feedback, or choose "Delete my data" from your profile to remove everything.
  • The site warns the app may get things wrong.

The September post links only to Google's general privacy page. It has no Dreambeans-specific policy.

Who can use it and how to get it

As of November 3, 2026, Google's September 10 announcement says Dreambeans is available to all accounts in the US, aged 18 or older. It links to the Google Play and App Store listings, and to the web page.

Detail What Google says
Where US, per the September post
Age 18 and older
Devices Android and iOS
Android version Android 10 or later, per the help page
Account Personal Google account
Language Officially English only, per the help page

To start on Android, install the app from Google Play, sign in with your personal Google account and pick the apps to connect. The help page lists those steps.

At launch, access was limited to Google AI Ultra subscribers, and everyone else joined a waitlist. The help page we read still mentions that gate and the waitlist form, so it appears to predate the September change. The September post is newer, so we have followed it. TechCrunch reported on November 2 that Google has since launched Dreambeans in India with 13 Indian languages. Google's pages we read don't mention India, so we haven't confirmed that.

What we don't know

Google hasn't published how Dreambeans decides which messages or photos to use, or whether the content is used to train models. Its pages don't say what the app costs beyond the plans named in the September footnote, and they give no usage numbers. The claims about quality, such as "what matters to you," are Google's own and haven't been tested independently in anything we read.

Frequently asked questions

Do you need a Dreambeans invite code?

None of Google's pages we read mention an invite code. At launch, non-Ultra users joined a waitlist at labs.google/dreambeans, and Google's September 10 post says it is now available to all US accounts aged 18 and older.

Is there a Dreambeans app?

Yes. Google Labs publishes Dreambeans for Android on Google Play and for iOS on the App Store, and the Dreambeans site also links to a web page. It is an experiment and officially supports English only.

Is Dreambeans available on iOS?

Yes. Google's September 10 post says it runs on Android and iOS and links to the App Store listing. Availability is limited to the US for users 18 and older.

Which data does Dreambeans use?

Only the apps you connect, from Gemini, Gmail, Calendar, Google Photos, YouTube and Search. You must connect at least one, and you can change the choice or delete your data from your profile.
