Key takeaways

  • Tencent released the official Hy4 on November 4 with vision and computer use, on a 770B-parameter model.
  • OpenRouter lists a 1,048,576-token context window and $0.417 per million input tokens; TechNode reports list prices of $0.834 input and $2.501 output.
  • Weights and a system card are promised but not out, and no benchmark scores are published yet.

Tencent released the official version of its Hy4 model on November 4, adding image understanding and computer use to a 770-billion-parameter language model, according to TechNode. Tencent says it will publish the weights and a system card "shortly", so the model is not yet open to download. The South China Morning Post frames the launch as Tencent's bid to join the top open-weight models alongside DeepSeek, Z.ai and Alibaba.

What changed from the August preview

The preview, released in August, was text only. It is a mixture-of-experts model, which runs only part of its network for each token: 49 billion active parameters out of 770 billion total, per its OpenRouter listing. The official version keeps that scale and adds two things, according to TechNode:

  • Vision: it reads charts and documents and reasons across several images.
  • Computer use: it operates command-line tools and graphical interfaces. TechNode reports targeted training on Blender, CAD software and tasks that span several programs.

Tencent says its focus areas are office work, financial analysis and game development. Hy4 is built into Tencent's WorkBuddy and CodeBuddy products, with a limited free quota from November 4 to November 15, TechNode reports.

Price and context window

OpenRouter lists Hy4 with a context window of 1,048,576 tokens, text and image input, and text output. Its price there is $0.417 per million input tokens and about $1.25 per million output tokens.

TechNode reports list prices of $0.834 and $2.501 per million tokens, unchanged from the preview, and a 50% discount on Tencent Cloud's TokenHub through December 31. OpenRouter's numbers are exactly half the list prices, which fits that discount. Check the price at the time you buy.

What we don't know yet

  • Benchmarks. Neither TechNode nor the OpenRouter listing gives any scores, and Tencent's own research page could not be read in full. Treat claims that Hy4 matches the top models as unverified until independent results appear.
  • License. The preview weights were published for download. Tencent has not yet stated terms for the official weights.
  • Hy4 Flash. Tencent says a cheaper Flash version is coming, with no date or price.

Watch for the weights and system card, which will show the license and let outside groups test the model on their own benchmarks.
