Key takeaways
- Moving from Mention to AyeWatch needs no export file: each alert is rewritten as a monitor described in plain English.
- Mention now sells one Company plan through a demo with no published price, while AyeWatch Pro costs $9 a month with no contract.
- AyeWatch does not do sentiment or share-of-voice reports, so teams that deliver those should keep Mention for that work.
If you want to move from Mention.com to AyeWatch, you do not need an export file, a migration call or a free afternoon. Each Mention alert becomes an AyeWatch monitor that you write in a sentence or two. This guide walks through the move in order, from listing what you have today to switching off the old account.
Why people are moving now
Mention changed owners. Agorapulse announced it had acquired Mention in May 2025, and the Mention home page now carries that banner. Since then, Mention's publish and respond features have been phased out, with Agorapulse named as the tool for that work. The Mention pricing page now shows a single Company plan with no published number and a "Get a demo" button. API access and historical data are listed as paid add-ons on that plan.
If you were on a small self-serve plan and only need to know when your brand, a rival or a topic comes up, a demo-led plan is a lot of process for that job. AyeWatch is bought on its website, paid plans start at $9 a month, and there are no contracts or cancellation fees.
Step 1: list what your Mention alerts actually do
Open Mention and write down, for each alert:
- the brand, product or person it tracks, plus spellings and handles
- the words you excluded with NOT, and why
- which sources mattered: news, X, Reddit, YouTube, review sites
- who needs to see the results, and where they read them
Most teams find that a handful of alerts carry the real value and the rest were set up once and ignored. Only move the ones you read.
Step 2: turn each alert into one plain-English monitor
In AyeWatch, a monitor is a description, not a keyword string. Where a Mention alert might hold a long Boolean query, an AyeWatch monitor says what you want in normal words. For example:
Complaints, outages or boycott talk about Acme Cloud in news, Reddit and X. Skip giveaways, job posts and casual name-drops.
AyeWatch reads new items and judges them by meaning against that description, so a post that says "Acme is down again" matches even if it never uses the word "outage". Each alert arrives with a short summary and links to the sources.
Step 3: add the sources Mention did not cover for you
This is where the move can add coverage rather than just copy it. AyeWatch has three kinds of monitor:
- Internet topics, drawn from over a billion sources: news, blogs, forums, government pages and academic publications.
- Webpages. Paste a URL, such as a competitor's pricing page or a careers page, and get told when a meaningful detail changes.
- Social media. Point a monitor at an X profile, a subreddit, a YouTube channel, LinkedIn, Instagram or TikTok, and only posts that match your filter come through.
A common setup after a move is one topic monitor per brand, one webpage monitor per competitor pricing page, and one subreddit monitor for the community where your customers talk.
Step 4: pick how often each monitor checks
On paid plans, Auto mode sets the pace for each topic. It checks more often while a topic is busy and backs off when it goes quiet. You can also choose a fixed interval instead. Match it to how fast you need to react: a crisis watch deserves a quicker pace than a monthly review of a competitor's pricing page.
Step 5: route alerts to the right people
Every plan delivers to the AyeWatch feed and as push notifications on iOS and Android. Paid plans add email, a daily digest email, Slack, Discord, signed webhooks and the REST API. Channels are set per topic, so the support team can get outage chatter in Slack while marketing reads competitor news in the digest.
Step 6: run both, then cancel
Start with the AyeWatch free preview: three lifetime runs across up to three topics, no card. Move your busiest alert first and compare a week of results side by side. When the summaries cover what you used to dig out of Mention's feed, move the rest.
When to stay on Mention
Keep Mention if your deliverable is a report: sentiment, share of voice, influence scores, review-site coverage or white-label PDFs for clients. AyeWatch does not do sentiment reports, share of voice or a social inbox. If your work is knowing what happened and acting on it, the full AyeWatch vs Mention comparison shows the rest of the trade-offs.
