Meta Muse vs ChatGPT is a comparison of two different kinds of product. Muse is a personal agent that does tasks for you on its own cloud computer, and ChatGPT is a chat assistant that has grown agent features and sits behind several paid plans. As of November 7, 2026, Meta has [published no Muse prices](https://claudegpt.si/news/is-meta-muse-free), and OpenAI's pricing page, as we could read it, shows no dollar amounts for its paid plans.

This comparison rests on the two companies' own pages, not on hands-on testing. ## What Muse does

Meta says Muse can send emails, book travel, open a browser, fill out forms and negotiate for you. It turns a goal into a plan and keeps working after you close the app. It comes back when something changes or when it needs your approval, for example before it sends an email or makes a purchase.

It runs on what Meta calls Muse Secure VM, a dedicated cloud computer with its own browser. A second agent, Sentinel, runs beside it and has to approve Muse's access to the internet. Meta says Muse cannot see your passwords or payment methods, keeps an audit trail, and does not share conversations or VM data with Meta's ad systems. You can opt out of having interactions used to train Meta's models.

Checkout goes through Link, built by Stripe. Meta says Muse is the first agent covered by Link's purchase protections, and that Link's agent wallet creates a one-time card so your real card stays hidden. These are Meta's claims, and we have not tested them.

On November 6, 2026, Meta added [Spaces](https://claudegpt.si/news/meta-muse-spaces-custom-app): small custom tools you build inside the app by describing them, such as a gift tracker or a trip planner. Meta has also added [voice and expressive avatars](https://claudegpt.si/news/meta-muse-voice-expressive-avatars).

## What ChatGPT offers

OpenAI's pricing page, as fetched on November 7, 2026, lists these plans.

| Plan | What the page says |
| --- | --- |
| Free | Unlimited text chats, subject to abuse guardrails. Uploads, image creation, voice, deep research and memory are restricted. Models: GPT-6 Luna and GPT-5 Thinking Mini |
| Go | Everything in Free with more messages, uploads, image creation and voice, plus longer memory and scheduled tasks. May include ads |
| Plus | Adds the GPT-6 and GPT-5.6 reasoning models, deep research, Sites, Developer mode and ChatGPT Work on desktop, web and mobile |
| Pro | Adds three usage tiers (Pro 100, 200 and 500 API credit tiers), Dots (an always-on agent), Space, longer Codex and Work sessions and unlimited image creation |
| Business, Enterprise | Priced per user per month. Business starts at 2 users |

The page we could read showed no dollar amounts for Go, Plus or Pro. OpenAI's own pricing pages returned errors to our other requests, so we do not quote a monthly price here. Check the live page before you decide.

ChatGPT Work, per OpenAI's feature page, uses your tools, files and approved context to produce documents, decks, spreadsheets and reports. You can give it a goal, schedule recurring work or have it watch for updates. It makes a plan and checks in when it needs approval. OpenAI says it connects to more than 1,400 plugins and is available on desktop to all plans, and on web and mobile to Plus, Pro, Business, Enterprise and Edu.

## Which one fits what you do

- **You want a personal assistant that handles errands.** Muse is built for this. Booking, forms and purchases are the center of Meta's pitch, and it also works from WhatsApp.
- **You want a general chat assistant, with research, images and code.** ChatGPT lists deep research, image creation, voice, Codex and Developer mode. Meta's Muse posts describe none of these.
- **You want work documents.** ChatGPT Work is aimed at decks, spreadsheets and reports. Muse's Spaces are personal tools, not office documents.
- **Price matters.** ChatGPT has a published free tier with listed limits. Muse's free tier has no stated limits, and Meta says nothing about what its subscriptions add.
- **You are outside the US.** Muse is rolling out in the US, with Singapore added on October 27. Meta gives no full country list.

## What we don't know

- Muse subscription prices and free limits.
- ChatGPT's current monthly prices, which we could not read from OpenAI this run.
- How either does on real tasks. Neither company publishes a head-to-head benchmark, and we did not test them.

This comparison is based on the products' own pages and published results, not hands-on testing. Prices and plans change, so recheck both before paying.
