## Key takeaways

- Antigravity has a $0 plan with weekly limits; Claude Code is not included in the Claude Free plan and starts at $20 a month with Pro.
- Antigravity on Google AI Pro or Ultra offers Claude Sonnet 5.5 and Opus 5.5 next to Gemini, while Claude Code runs Claude models.
- Antigravity does not support bring-your-own API key, and neither company publishes exact token counts for its plans.

Google Antigravity and Claude Code are both agentic coding tools, but they differ in where they come from and what they run on. Antigravity is Google's platform, built around Gemini models and free to start. Claude Code is Anthropic's tool, built around Claude and included with paid Claude plans. This google antigravity vs claude code comparison is based on both companies' docs and pricing pages as of November 6, 2026. We did not test either product hands-on.

The short version: pick Antigravity if you want a free tier, a desktop app that manages many agents and Gemini as the default model. Pick Claude Code if you want a terminal-first tool with a long record of customization (CLAUDE.md, hooks, skills, the Agent SDK) and Claude models as the core. Both can run Claude models, so the choice is less about the model than about the tool around it.

## How much each one costs

Antigravity has a free plan. Google's [pricing page](https://antigravity.google/pricing) lists Individuals at $0 a month, with unlimited Tab completions and Command requests and basic weekly rate limits. Google AI Pro and Google AI Ultra add higher limits and a pool of AI credits, but the Antigravity pricing page gives no prices for them. Business plans through Google Cloud start at $30 per seat per month, and pay-as-you-go has no seat fee. Our [Cursor vs Antigravity comparison](https://claudegpt.si/news/cursor-vs-antigravity-compared) tracks the consumer plan prices.

Claude Code has no free tier. Per [Anthropic's pricing page](https://claude.com/pricing), as of November 6, 2026:

| Plan | Price | Notes |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Pro | $20 a month, or $17 billed annually | Includes Claude Code |
| Max | $100 a month | 5x Pro usage, $100 in monthly API credits |
| Ultra | $200 a month | 10x Pro usage weekly, $200 in monthly API credits |
| Team | $25 per seat monthly (standard), $125 (premium) | Cheaper billed annually |
| Enterprise | $20 per seat, billed annually | 20-seat minimum, plus usage at API rates |

You can also pay per token. Our [Claude Code pricing guide](https://claudegpt.si/news/claude-code-pricing-plans-api-cost) covers plans against API cost, including Anthropic's estimate of about $13 per developer per active day.

Neither company publishes exact token or request counts for subscription plans. Antigravity says its baseline limits are "primarily determined by available capacity" and may change. That makes the multipliers (5x, 10x) the only hard comparison, and they are relative to each company's own base plan.

## Which models you get

This is where the two overlap. According to Google's [models page](https://antigravity.google/docs/models), Antigravity offers:

- Free and Google AI Plus: Gemini 3.8 Flash, Claude Sonnet 4.6, Claude Opus 4.6 and GPT-OSS-120b.
- Google AI Pro: adds Gemini 4 Argon, and Claude Sonnet 5.5 and Opus 5.5 for non-trial subscriptions.
- Google AI Ultra: Gemini 4 Argon, Gemini 3.8 Flash, Claude Sonnet 5.5, Opus 5.5 and GPT-OSS-120b.

The Claude 4.6 models and GPT-OSS-120b are marked for removal on November 18, 2026. After that, free users are left with Gemini 3.8 Flash.

Claude Code runs Claude models, and its CLI, VS Code and JetBrains versions also support third-party providers. Anthropic's API prices on its pricing page are $4 input and $20 output per million tokens for Opus 5.5, and $2 and $10 for Sonnet 5.5.

So Antigravity can give you Claude Opus 5.5 inside Google's tool on a paid Google plan. Claude Code can't give you Gemini as its own model.

## Features compared

Antigravity's [overview](https://antigravity.google/docs/overview) describes a shared agent harness co-trained with Gemini. It produces artifacts such as implementation plans, multi-file diffs, verification reports and browser recordings, and it drives a sandboxed Chromium browser. It also has scheduled tasks, rule files and `SKILL.md` skills. Enterprise customers get SSO, regional data residency and VPC Service Controls through Google Cloud.

Claude Code's [docs](https://code.claude.com/docs/en/overview) describe a terminal-first tool that works across the terminal, IDEs, desktop and web with the same engine, so CLAUDE.md files, settings and MCP servers carry over. It adds hooks, skills, subagents, background agents, cloud scheduled tasks, GitHub Actions and GitLab CI/CD, Slack, Remote Control from a phone, and the Agent SDK. Claude Code can also use a Chrome integration for debugging live web apps.

On paper the feature lists are close: subagents, MCP, skills, hooks, scheduled tasks and an SDK appear in both. Antigravity leans on its app as a command center for many agents. Claude Code leans on reach: web, mobile, CI and chat.

## Which one should you choose

- You want to try an agentic tool for $0: Antigravity. Claude Code needs a paid plan.
- You already pay for Claude Pro or Max: Claude Code is included, so there is no extra cost.
- You live in the terminal and CI: both have a CLI. Claude Code has more documented CI and chat integrations.
- You want Gemini as the main model: Antigravity.
- You want Claude Opus 5.5 without an Anthropic plan: Antigravity on Google AI Pro or Ultra gives access to it, subject to Google's quotas.
- You need your own API key: Claude Code. Antigravity does not support bring-your-own-key.

## What we don't know

Neither company publishes the token or request counts behind its plans, and nobody has shown a head-to-head on the same tasks that we can cite. Independent coding benchmarks compare models, not these tools, and each tool changes the result through its own harness. Test both on your own repository before you commit to either. Google can change the model list and limits at any time, and the November 18 removal shows how fast it moves.

## Frequently asked questions

### Is Google Antigravity better than Claude Code?

Neither is better on the evidence in the docs. Antigravity is cheaper to start, with a $0 plan, and defaults to Gemini. Claude Code has more documented surfaces, including web, mobile and CI, and needs a paid Claude plan. Test both on your own code.

### Is Antigravity free?

Yes. Google's pricing page lists an Individuals plan at $0 a month with unlimited Tab completions and Command requests and basic weekly rate limits. Pro and Ultra add higher limits and AI credits.

### Can Antigravity use Claude models?

Yes. As of November 6, 2026, Google's models page lists Claude Sonnet 5.5 and Opus 5.5 on Google AI Pro (non-trial) and Ultra. Claude 4.6 models on the free plan are marked for removal on November 18, 2026.

### Does Claude Code have a free plan?

No. Claude Code is included in Claude Pro at $20 a month ($17 billed annually), Max, Ultra, Team and Enterprise, but not in the Free plan.
