Key takeaways

  • eBay says its watchlist alerts you when a watched item's price drops, when stock runs low and when the listing is about to end.
  • eBay saved searches email you when new listings match, and you can filter them by price.
  • AyeWatch adds shared alerts in Slack, Discord or a webhook on paid plans, and watches supplier and competitor pages outside eBay.

The quickest eBay price tracker is the one eBay already built: add a listing to your watchlist and eBay says it will notify you when the price drops. For a team that sources or resells on eBay, though, the stronger setup pairs that with AyeWatch, which watches the same listing plus the supplier and competitor pages eBay cannot see, and posts the change where your team already talks.

What eBay tracks for you

eBay gives buyers three tools that cover most single-person tracking. Each was checked on eBay's own pages in November 2026.

  • Watchlist. Select Add to Watchlist on the item page and find it later in My eBay. eBay says you can get alerts when the price drops, when stock runs low and when the listing is close to expiring, and that it will tell you when a watched item is about to sell out. Sellers may also send an offer to people watching their item.
  • Saved searches. Run a search, then choose Save this search at the top of the results. By default eBay emails you when new items match or the saved search updates. You can add filters such as price, and editing a search saves a new copy with the new filters.
  • Best Offer and sorting. Advanced Search can limit results to listings with Make Offer, and sorting by Price + Shipping: lowest first puts the true cost at the top.

For one buyer hunting one item, that is often enough.

Where eBay's tools stop

Operators hit three limits fast.

First, the alerts belong to one eBay account. If three people on a team source inventory, each has their own watchlist and inbox, and nobody sees the full picture.

Second, eBay only knows eBay. The same part is often listed on the maker's site, a distributor's store or a competitor's shop, and those prices decide whether the eBay deal is any good.

Third, the triggers are eBay's: a drop on a watched item, or a new match on a saved search. A condition in your own words, like "only if it falls under what we paid last quarter," is something you add on top.

Adding AyeWatch to the stack

AyeWatch watches public web pages and tells you when something that matters changes. For eBay work that means:

  1. Paste a listing URL and write the rule: "Tell me if this drops below $180."
  2. Paste the supplier's or a competitor's product page next to it with the same kind of rule.
  3. Send alerts to a shared Slack or Discord channel, or to a webhook that feeds your own sheet or tool. Those channels come with paid plans; push and the in-app feed are on every plan.

AyeWatch's own guide to price drop alerts names eBay listings and resale markets among its common uses. Each alert is a short summary of what changed with a link back to the page, so the person who acts on it does not need to open five tabs first.

Paid plans start at $9 a month as of November 2026, billed in monitoring credits, and there is a free preview with no card.

A setup for a small sourcing team

Job Tool
One buyer waiting on one listing eBay watchlist
New listings under a price eBay saved search with a price filter
Shared alerts for the whole team AyeWatch to Slack, Discord or a webhook
Supplier and competitor prices off eBay AyeWatch on their public product pages
Offering a lower price to a seller Best Offer

What to keep in mind

AyeWatch reads public pages only. It does not log in to your eBay account, it does not bid or buy, and it does not keep a price chart. Treat it as the alert layer, and keep eBay's own tools for the actions.

When eBay alone is enough

If you are one person buying for yourself and every item you want is on eBay, the watchlist and saved searches already cover it. AyeWatch earns its place once more than one person needs the alert, or once the price that matters lives on a site other than eBay.

Frequently asked questions

Does eBay tell you when a watched item drops in price?

Yes. eBay says watchlist items can trigger alerts when the price drops, when stock is low and when the listing is about to expire.

How do I get an alert when a new eBay listing appears under a set price?

Save a search with a price filter. eBay emails you by default when new items match a saved search.

Can AyeWatch track an eBay listing for my whole team?

Yes. Paste the listing URL into AyeWatch with a price rule, and on a paid plan send the alert to a shared Slack or Discord channel or a webhook.
